Blackpool Carers' Centre is a UK registered charity providing a range of services to support and enhance the lives of carers of all ages across Blackpool.
The Centre is a member of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers Network which was created on the initiative of HRH the Princess Royal in 1991. The network consists of 144 independently managed Carers' Centres and 85 Young Carers' services.
In 2000 Blackpool Council and Blackpool Princess Carers Trust formed a partnership that would eventually lead to the development of a Carers' Centre in Blackpool. In 2003 a steering group was formed and Blackpool Social Services employed a manager to take the centre to independence.
Radio Wave also helped with this development and raised a significant amount of money for this initiative.
Here at the Carers' Centre staff and volunteers work together to provide a range of services such as supports groups, social events, trips and pamper sessions. These enable current and former carers to meet up and share experiences and provide carers with a chance to relax and unwind while taking a break from their caring role.
The Centre also offers a programme of practical and fun training courses to help the carer in their caring role and also to develop outside interests.
